This one term course explores the essential questions and elements of science fiction. Students will read and analyze a variety of science fiction text and media; and, compose essays and engage in discussions around the themes of science fiction. As students move through the course they will explore four essential questions in informational and literary texts, as well as in their own lives and the world around them: Will technology save or harm humanity?; Just because we can, should we?; Are we responsible for our creations?; How does science fiction serve as a metaphor for society, humanity, our questions, our fears?
