Reading 10R4 is a course for students who continue to experience reading problems.
Students interact in small group and individualized activities designed to improve their
general reading skills. The purpose of the class is to help students who are reading
between grade levels 4.0-5.9 to improve their reading skills to a grade 9/10 level by
focusing on the grade 4-8 Reading Content Standards. Students will develop their skills
in the following areas: reading comprehension, vocabulary development, reading
decoding, literary analysis, reading strategies, critical thinking and fluency in oral and
silent reading. Reading for pleasure and personal interest will be encouraged. Thinking
skills, study skills, and workplace skills will also be addressed.
