Humanities Mathematics 103 (CP)

Course Number: M431/M432
Initial Grade Level: 11

Humanities Mathematics 103 (CP) will be the third course in a four year series of courses that will focus on geometry, with an additional unit of quadratics, to prepare students for a subsequent advanced math course that incorporates additional math topics (i.e. advanced algebra, statistics, probability and trigonometry). Students in this pathway are leaning towards non-STEM college and career choices.

Students will continue their understanding of quadratic equations by using various methods for solving quadratic equations. Students will extend their understanding of geometry by learning about relationships within triangles, quadrilaterals and other polygons, similarity, circles, circumference, area, volume, and right triangle trigonometry. Students will demonstrate understanding of standards through the use of assessment and multiple performance tasks. The assessments will assess the students abilities to read, write, and solve algebraic problems with proficiency. The performance tasks will assess a student’s ability to apply the course standards to a real life inquiry.
