Brief Description

English 2 is the second course in the English curriculum. Students study literature from around the world with the intent of grasping the relationships between local concerns and universal questions. Units allow for a close study of literary works, as well as consideration of historical and cultural context. Building on English 1, the course includes study and skill development in core literature, language usage, vocabulary, writing, and reading skills, with a particular focus on written expression. By the end of grade 10, students will read and comprehend literature, including fiction, non-fiction, drama, and poetry. Students will draw evidence from literary and/or informational texts to support analysis, reflection, and research. Additionally, students will present information, findings, and supporting evidence, conveying a clear and distinct perspective.
