Data Science (CP)

Course Number: M361/M362
Initial Grade Level: 11-12

Data Science will teach students an inquiry based process to critically examine data sets using mathematical and statistical analysis. It will develop the tools, techniques and principles for reasoning about the world with data. Students will form questions and make decisions about the world around them by compiling evidence via computation, simulation, modeling, and producing numerical summaries or graphical displays. Course content includes functions, looping and iteration, data visualization, linear regression, and other statistics and probability concepts. The course will use Pyret as the statistical programming language. Bootstrap Data Science will be the primarily curricular resource. The curriculum addresses many of the CA Common Core State Standards for Statistics and Probability, Standards for Mathematical Practices, and Computer Science Standards.
