Brief Description

This course offers students intensive instruction in the principles and techniques of comedic and improvisational acting, writing, production, design, and directing for the stage, film/television, and new media for the Internet. Students learn the craft of comedic and improvisational acting and writing through studying and analyzing style, structure, and content; studying and analyzing contemporary and historical comedic works; participating in scenes, sketches, stand-up routines, and improvisational games; participating in the development of content for the stage, film, and Internet. Students will demonstrate their skills though a plethora of performance opportunities within the classroom and in films and Internet content throughout the year, and through participation in two main stage comedy or improvisation performances during the school year.
