This course is an advanced level dance class where students will demonstrate mastery in numerous styles of dance and technique, create works of art through choreography projects and perform in numerous concerts and events. Advance Dance is designed for those students with prior dance training and enrollment is by audition or teacher approval only. This course is a continuation of their dance education that will increase their knowledge of dance terminology while exposing them to multiple genres. Students will study under various choreographers from the professional/semi-professional dance community to broaden their dance repertoire. At the end of each semester, students will participate in a mandatory concert and complete a written self-critique. Students will also participate in a group choreography project where they will be required to keep a portfolio, documenting their work in dance notation and designing their dance piece for the stage.
